Selection of Information
All of the database information is available all of the time, but generally you will only be interested in a sub-set of the information to perform a specific task. For example, you may want to show only the e-mail addresses for guests of an event who have not replied.
HostMaster 4 offers all of the sorting, filtering and data hiding that you have come to expect from a spreadsheet.
Sorting
You can sort on any column, both in ascending and descending order, and be sure that the type of the data (text, values, dates and so on) will be respected in the sorting process. You can also have multiple sorts, allowing you to sort, for example, companies within towns within business sector.
Filtering
You can filter the information in any column. Filtering can be as simple as selecting a particular value (like Excel), or can be for a range of values, a selection of values or even select blank or non-blank fields. You can combine a number of filters on different columns too.
Column Hiding
You can hide any columns that are not required. This does not delete the information, but merely unclutters your screen.
Column Re-sequencing
You can move columns to where you want them, rather than stick with the default sequence.
Column Resizing
You can change the column widths to suit your preferences.
Column Locking
You can also lock any number of columns at the left hand side so that they are always visible when scrolling across.
Column Totals
You can total the information in any column, and the totaling method is dependent on the type of data in the column. For example, numbers and values will simply be added, but text fields are totaled on the basis of being blank or not.
Clicking the column title to display the Column Properties Manager can access the controls for all these above operations.
